The Lake Worth Casino recently had it’s grand opening, celebrated with a 1920’s style party. Lake Worth officials had the building restored in the mold of the original building that was built in 1922. The work started in 2011 and cost $6 million for the building and $5 million contributed by Palm Beach County for beach renovation.

The only thing the casino is missing is gambling. There are shops, restaurants and a 3,000 sq ft ballroom with terraces overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

The complex has to bring in enough revenue, without using taxpayers money. Plans call for the complex to have enough revenue in three years to pay for new amenities and services. The money needed to maintain and run the complex will come from parking, rental income and income generated by the use of the ballroom.

The complex has a new beach-front park, a parking lot with 613 spaces and gorgeous landscaping. Also added were an art playground, beachfront promenade, a redone picnic area, paved bike paths and bicycle racks. The pier plaza was updated with shade sails, and additional beachfront lighting.

Officials are hoping that people will come for entertainment, to enjoy the beach, relax and enjoy all the wonderful things Florida has to offer.
